SONG 23 : WALKING ON WATER

First opened in 1910, as our pleasure pier
In 1952 was the first fire
The Stephanie family made it their living
Then in 2008 it was gutted by fire

We’re gonna build a pier, reach out to the sea
We’re gonna build a pier, just you and me
It’ll take steel and planks and the community

There’ll be space for events, for people to have a good time
We’ll be outside cause in England the weathers always fine
You can fish for plaice or rally with the cod army

Dream, You’re walking on water
Dream, Across the Bay
Dream, You’re walking on water
With space in your mind, you will find yourself
In Fleetwood

We’re gonna bring back the heritage to this seaside town
‘Cause you know that the pier was the jewel in the crown (where’s the rubies?)
In the cultural quarter will be flooded with clowns

We’re gonna build the future, to raise employability
Build visitor economy that’s not just you and me
Improve the quality of life down here by the sea

Dream, You’re walking on water
Dream, Across the Bay
Dream, You’re walking on water
With space in your mind, you will find yourself
In Fleetwood
