SONG 16 : CARIBOU

A song calling for respect

The breech of a copper mine tailings pond creates hell on earth
First Nation anglers can’t feed their families and that’s just the start
The findings are just proving what we’ve always believed,
it’s a huge huge impact
We say people will go hungry because of this problem
Please stop

From the mouth of Hazeltime Creek to Quesnel Lake, there’s hell on earth
Don’t drink, don’t bathe, don’t bottle, don’t save and that’s just a start
As the copper moves though the food chain, it’s a huge huge impact
We say people will go hungry because of this problem
Please stop

The salmon won’t return, they soon learn that the river bottoms suffocated with toxic silt
The tar sands, the fracking lands, it’s same stupid government as we have over here
They’re fracking over here, fracking over there it’s just money and greed with no respect
We say people will go hungry because of this problem
Please stop

Why can’t you leave us to live in the paradise we choose
We can evict them, it’s our land, it’s the Caribou
